Listening Therapies
Listening therapies can be a wonderful add-on, or standalone support, for the nervous system. Wonder Land OT & Wellness is thrilled to be a provider for several auditory, frequency, and resonance modalities including:
Acoustic vagal nerve toning
via the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) and the Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP)
Biofeedback
for heart rate variability and coherence via HeartMath
Multisensory integration
support via the iLs Focus System
Individualized Microcurrent Frequency
support via Healy
What is the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)?
Out of all the above therapies, SSP is perhaps the most widely known, reported to have supported over 100,000 children and adults across the world.
When our bodies are stressed, or in a chronic state of fight or flight, the muscles in our inner ear start to tune towards sounds of threat. When our bodies are grounded, those same muscles tune towards sounds of human voice, enhancing connection and safety.
SSP is an evidence-based listening therapy developed by Dr. Stephen Porges using Polyvagal Theory. It provides music at a specific frequency (the range of the human voice) to engage the vagus nerve via the inner ear, helping the body return to a feeling of safety. These frequencies were “designed to reduce stress and auditory sensitivity while enhancing social engagement and resilience.” - Unyte
This website from SSP provider Unyte details more about the therapy.

“Our son is kind, funny, smart and also has anxiety that can at times be debilitating… His SSP sessions has turned so much around for him and we are so grateful! We cannot thank Jackie enough for all that she has done and for all that she means to our family!”

How Do Listening Sessions Work?
1 / LISTEN
You will use an app and headphones to listen to scientifically-developed music, precisely designed to send cues of safety to the nervous system.
2 / GET FEEDBACK
During the listening session, your provider will attune to your nervous system and monitor your progress, adjusting as needed based on your body’s feedback.
3 / RE-TUNE
The precise frequencies help the nervous system return to a feeling of safety and re-tune, which can reduce stress and increase connection.
“I have tried many healing modalities to address CPTSD & neurodivergence. SSP is a gentle and soothing process. My sessions with Jackie and the safety she embodies was an integral part of the experience.
Sound healing and a loving mirror are a subtle and profound combination. My nervous system is calm, I respond to life challenges with curiosity.Thank you!"
