Lineage and Values

What This Work Is Rooted In

Jackie received her M.S. in Occupational Therapy from Dominican University, and also has received credentials and training in Sensory Processing and Integration (STAR Institute and USC), Parent Coaching (Jai Institute), the Autonomic Nervous System and Polyvagal Theory, Interpersonal Nuerobiology, Co-Regulation, play-based approaches (DIRFloortime®), Reflex integration, Posture, Motor Skills, Nuerodiversity, Sleep, Handwriting, Bilateral Movement, and Somatics. Jackie is also trained in Trauma-Sensitive HeartMath® and is a Unyte-trained provider for the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) and Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP)

 

Jackie blends a wide variety of methodologies in her work; some additional teachers, known and unknown, have included: Kim Barthel, Dan Siegel, Kelly Beins, Connie Lillas, RN, MFT, PhD, and Christabel Mintah-Galloway. In addition, the living world, earth-based spiritualities, mythology, her experience with her children, and her relationships have played no small part in offering a wellspring of continual evolution. Her practice and self-study is also guided by additional frameworks including Non-Violent Communication (Marshall Rosenberg), Emergent Strategy (adrienne marie brown), the Social Model of Disability (Michael James Hoiles Oliver), children’s rights, and transformative justice, among many others.

Wonder Land is based on occupied Me-Wuk (Coast Miwok) land. Jackie received her university education on occupied Lisjan Ohlone land and was born and raised on occupied Chumash and Tongva lands.

 

We strive in an ongoing way to ​seek repair with the original peoples of these lands through word and deed, intentionality and action.

 

We make regular contributions (Shuumi Land Tax, Kuuy Nahwá’a Guest Exchange) to support rematriation and reconciliation for the land and her peoples.

 

We seek to practice, grow, and share in a way that centers embodied, relational, and ancestral wisdom, both internal and external. We strive to listen, learn, and unlearn.
